With more than 180,000 visitors, Light & Building in Frankfurt is the biggest international lighting fair. The distinctive feature this time was the enormous demand for energy-efficient lighting technology. Interest in LED and HID innovations from BJB was equally keen. As a world first, BJB presented a lampholder system for the Fortimo Twistable LED modules from Philips. For the first time, this system enables light fitting manufacturers, installation engineers and end users to replace LED modules as easily as conventional incandescent lamps. The lampholder is attached with three screws to a heat sink on the light fitting and the LED module is then inserted using the tried-and-tested BJB “push, twist, light” principle. In addition, the lampholder’s locking mechanism ensures permanently good heat dissipation from the light source to the heat sink. This heat dissipation is also vital for the long lifetime of the LED. These many advantages generated exceptionally keen interest among the international trade and professional visitors. BJB also presented connectors for LED modules from Citizen. Like all BJB products for the LED market, they meet the demands of the lighting industry for ease of installation: no gluing or soldering necessary. The light fittings are quick and easy to wire by means of push-wire terminals and the LED circuit boards are easy to replace. The screw fixing provides adequate contact pressure between the circuit board and the heat sink. BJB’s highlight in the field of HID was a lampholder system for the Osram HCI-TX/P lamps, which BJB developed in cooperation with Panasonic. These lamps eliminate the need for an additional protective glass because they are already equipped with their own protective glass bulb. This innovation also impressed the trade and professional visitors in Frankfurt.
